I was having lunch in one of my favorite local restaurants (a Manchurian place in my street), where they have these special tables you can sit at: The tables are at ground level, and have a hole in the floor below them, so you can sit down with your ass on the floor and eat comfortably. You just remove your shoes and hop in there - easy breezy! So - all said and done, I had a great, tasty lunch and was about to put on my shoes and take off, when something unexpected happened: while picking up one of my boots, a small, fast, nasty-looking cockroach (蟑螂 (!)) jumped out of it and ran across the room. I guess it felt really comfortable inside my long, warm, wintery boots, but still... YIKES!!
